W.I.N.G.S. News
Sometimes when tragedy strikes, you wonder why. You hear that everything happens for a reason, but don't understand that for a second. On June 11th, 2006 the worst of the worse struck the Miles family in the most devasting fashion. They lost their son Mark. Now try to understand that this happened for a reason. You question everything, and everybody, why? Why us?
Craig, Cathy, and Kelli did everything they could to cope with their loss. The Miles family came up with an idea of helping as many people as the could and developed a foundation called W.I.N.G.S. Whatever Individual Needs Gear or Support. They have raised thousands of dollars and more importantly have given thousands of dollars to students in need of gear or support. When you do good deeds and help many people out, people hear about that and find out what goes on beyond the help and why was it established. Someone found out about the W.I.N.G.S. foundation and thought it was a great cause and told Wisconsin DPI State Superintendent Tony Evers. Mr. Evers was so impressed that he has awarded the Miles family with an award. The award was for Friends of Education. Mr. Evers had the Miles family come to Madison to receive the award. Craig, Cathy, and Kelli Miles for starting W.I.N.G.S. foundation to support young people as a continuation of their son Mark's legacy of caring and compassion. W.I.N.G.S has a beautiful website if you would like to learn more about the foundation at www.wingsontheweb.org. And if you would like to see the site where the Miles received the award, go to dpistatesuperintendent@dpi.wi.gov.. Thanks goes out to Craig, Cathy, and Kelli for all the students you have helped. Mark will have a legacy that he would be proud of. Keep up the good work!
